Jerry’s One Tonner – Part Two

Not a great deal of progress to report today. On Monday we managed to get the windscreen out without breaking it, I was sure that it wouldn’t make it through that process.
Yesterday Jerry pulled the dash apart enough so that we can start cutting out the cowl panel. Jerry has bought yet another donor car, this time a HJ sedan that will be donating the outside cowl and dash panel as soon as it arrives.
On another note our eldest son Joe has taken an interest in mechanics of late and two of his friends are interested in becoming mechanic’s (why I will never know!) once they get through another four years of high school. As a way of teaching them the basics – and getting free labour! – we have set aside Tuesday’s and Thursday’s for them to come over and work on a car or two.
We spend the first half hour or so going over some theory and then it’s on to the spanners. Yesterday the boys got busy removing the front clip off the donor ute and for now they seem really keen.
Not sure how long it will last but we’ll give it a shot!
