I’m a bit behind the times with this update, better late than never I guess. Anyway here is the latest from the ‘official’ Streetwarz site -

I would like to bring you up to date on the progress of Streetwarz. But first I would like to thank all of our clients and supporters for getting behind Streetwarz. We always set out to operate with the support of our local community, we have had more than 5,600 people of all ages through our gates supporting Streetwarz since we opened on the 25th of April 2009 to the 31st of May 2009 (including our support petition signing day on 24th of May 2009). We think because of the large community support we have achieved, shows there is a definite need for Streetwarz in our community.

Last weekend we notified the Council and the residents in surrounding areas to Streetwarz and we engaged the services of acoustic engineers to conduct sound tests both at Streetwarz and the surrounding residential areas whilst the burnout pad was operating. We were very pleased to get the results back from the acoustic engineers which prove that Streetwarz has the potential to comply within the EPA sound guidelines on Business Drive, Narangba.

However due to the continual complaints from some residents in the surrounding residential areas and the lack of support from Moreton Bay Regional Council towards Streetwarz and our concept, I feel that Business Drive, Narangba is not the ideal site for Streetwarz. Therefore I am going to close Business Drive, Narangba and relocate Streetwarz to a more suitable location, which will have the full support of the relevant local Council, Police and community, and who will all understand and support Streetwarz and our concept.

We have already begun the process of identifying a more suitable site for Streetwarz and if you know of any properties that you think might be suitable, please let me know.

We will keep you up to date and hopefully it won’t be to long before Streetwarz is up and running again.

OPERATION OF STREETWARZ
I take this opportunity to provide an update in relation to the operation of Streetwarz and our continued attempts to provide a safe environment for people to operate their vehicles.

We will be open again this weekend to conduct the testing needed to prepare the material requested by Council. As part of the process of lodging a Council Application it is necessary for us to obtain acoustic noise reports and traffic studies which can only be conducted when the site is operating. It is for this reason therefore that the site will again be operating on Saturday and Sunday of this weekend between 12 and 5pm with the skidpan only operating between 1 and 4pm on each day.

The media may also be attending this weekend to view Streetwarz in operation.

As always we encourage you to obey our rules of entry and conditions of participation and also respect our local community by entering and exiting Streetwarz quietly and safely and moving on from the area when Streetwarz ends.
