If you are in Brisbane and looking for the latest modified car hangout then look no further than ‘Streetwarz’, located at Business Drive in Narangba on Brissie’s northside (see map below). So what is the deal with Streetwarz?

The concept is brilliant and what many car enthusiasts have been wanting for a long time. There is a well setup burnout pad for those wanting to legally let loose and have a bit of fun and a HUGE shed for showing off your car alongside other modified streeters if that is more your style.

Cost is $15 per person and an extra $15 for one and a half minutes on the skidpan. There is food available ( I didn’t sample it though so I can’t comment on the quality! ), toilets, the well setup skidpan, a flat area of concrete for changing wheels and plenty of security staff to keep an eye on things.

Initially Streetwarz was open for action on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night but after a number of noise complaints they have reduced it back to Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 6pm with the skidpan open for action from 2 to 5pm. I believe the council crackdown is still being negotiated and I will update this page whenever any changes are made.

What makes Streetwarz so appealing is that you can go down and throw your skid wheels on, have a few sessions on the skidpan, change back to your street tyres and head home without fear of being bent over by the local Police. With the number of cars being impounded for illegal races/burnouts these days taking it off the streets can only be a good thing.

The organizers ask that you leave quietly and have some respect for the people living around the area, which only makes sense and don’t be surprised if you get pinged for laying rubber up the road on your way in or out, you have been warned! From all reports the Police are keen to see this go on for a long time with a couple of officers even helping one guy change his wheels, but if there is silly buggers going on outside the venue you can bet they’ll come down on it like a ton of bricks.

I urge everyone to get behind Streetwarz, the only way it will continue is with our support so rather than risk your car being impounded, or worse, come on down and have some fun legally. Even if you don’t have a car it makes for a great day out watching the action on the skidpan and checking out the cars on show.
