Neville sent over these shots of the work in progress on his 1990 Corolla Seca. Nev wrote, “its not much but by far one of the best cars ive ever had…. i cant fault it…turn the key and go….end of story”. Very typical of Toyota’s of that era, but what is also typical of a number of cars of that era is their tendancy to loose thier clear coat and the colour layers underneath.
Neville has been hard at work sanding the affected panels and in his words he says “Whoever does this kind of work is a nutcase!”. No doubt sanding through dodgy clear coat is bloody hard work and takes a lot of time but at least he can be thankful the bonnet and roof are still ok.
Neville is lucky enough to have a mate who paints cars for a living and he is hoping to have a go himself with his friend watching over his shoulder. By the sounds of things this mate will be a handy guy to have around as he has painted a number of classic cars and laid down some pearl flames on a show-winning RX7. I only wish I had someone like that showing me the way when I started dabbling in this stuff, would have saved me from doing many less-than-great paint jobs. Got to learn somehow I guess!
Hopefully we will have an update soon on the Corolla’s progress and hopefully it all went well and it now has some nice new coats of shiny paint.
